About Us

The Bali Mandala Resort is run with a very personal feel by an artist-therapist couple.

In collaboration with our loveable Balinese team we offer a personalized stay that takes care of our guests' individual needs.

Bali Mandala came into our lives as the fulfillment of a long-standing dream, to live in the sun by the ocean,
as well as creating an inspiring place for people to meet, interact and share their experiences, relax and heal themselves.

With its powerful stillness and tropical beauty, Bali Mandala far surpases what we imagined,
and we feel very blessed to have found this garden of Eden.

The experience that miracles are possible and dreams can come true, if we just allow ourselves to put
aside our habitual ways of thinking, gives our lives a lot of enthusiasm and sparkle!

We feel it is a special priviledge and heartfelt desire to allow Bali Mandala to blossom into an extraordinary place of wholeness,
that uplifts, heals and nourishes not just ourselves, but also many others from a wide variety of nationalities and backgrounds.

Gisela von Keiser-Grenkowitz grew up in Asia, and went on to found a therapeutic centre at the Lake of
Constance in Germany, with her husband. Over the last 10 years she has worked
as a psychotherapist for contemplative psychology in her own practice in Frankfurt,
and in addition lectures, supervises, and trains people for Karuna Training -
which offers an education in contemplative psychology.

Rainer Grenkowitz is an actor with extensive experience in theatre and many telivision programmes.

His book "Goldstiens Weg ins Gluek" was published in 2007 by Ullstein Verlag.

OUR VISION

In the midst of rapidly changing times on all levels of human life, Bali Mandala offers a very special space for inner
contemplation and stillness. It is a powerful place where people can have a exceptional experience of reconnecting
with their essential wholeness.

Far removed from the exhausting pace, and frantic meaninglessness of modern life, at Bali Mandala
we create an enviroment of hospitality in the spirit of the contemplative traditions.

As the name suggests, a "Mandala" is a metaphor of wholeness. Given the fundamental challenges of our time,
our concern is to bring to life this intrinsic wholeness or health, be it through a massage, meditation or stroll
along the beach. We invite people to discover expeirences of space, openness and peace.

Bali Mandala is a people-friendly retreat that offers the following:

  • an ideal place to spend your holiday in an inspiring, laid back atompsphere
  • the chance to be with inspiring people who long to expeirence the simplicity of life, stunning nature, and the magic of Bali.

  • an unusual atmposphere of warm hospitality where stillness and retreat is equally
welcome - especially favourable for those travelling alone.

  • uniquely beautiful surroundings for seminars in a contained environment, providing all necessary
services and facilities including transfers, tours and special events.

  • a place of meditation and healing where people can enjoy a stay to enhance their well-being
in a contemplative setting where they can feel totally accepted - and at home.

  • a place where you can encounter the joy and lightness of dolphins and connection with your own
creativity and love of life. - Snorkelling and scuba-diving round our protected local reef.

Far removed from the noisy tourism of Southern Bali, Bali Mandala represents an initiave in
sustainable tourism in Northern Bali, allowing people to connect with the religion, culture and ritual
of the original Balinese way of life.

Surrounded by a pleasant timelessness, only the sunrise and sunset, the phases of the moon,
the tides and roosters crowing inform one of "what time" it is.
The NOW is so rich, the senses so filled with scents, sounds, colours and experiences
of expansion, that many things fall into place all on their own.

During your stay at Bali Mandala an unusual level of intimacy develops very quietly and unobtrusively
- so that personal and meaningful conversations and connections happen. People often remark that they
have seldom experienced such an empathetic and accepting openness anywhere else.

Each guest is lovingly supported and given exactly what will most nourish and sustain
them on deeper levels, with the utmost ease and effortlessness.

We specifically want to bring the pricinciples of sustanainable and sensitive tourism into the
foreground at our resort. Our bungalows have a natural finish in the typical Balinese style.
We buy our fish directly from the fishermen on the beach. Our poultry, fruit, vegetables
and coffee are provided direct by our Balinese neighbours. We make the whole of our abundant
harvest from over 100 coconut trees available to the village community. We strenghten the local
infrastructure not just by employing nearly all our workmen and staff from Bondalem, but also by
initiating an open after-school project: www.saraswati-mandala.jimdo.com
